Maura Higgins for Love Island / ITV
Love Island star Maura Higgins has reportedly been chosen to host the new version of Blind Date on Disney+.
The 35-year-old shot to fame appearing in the Summer 2019 edition of the hugely-popular ITV2 dating show before going on to present the spinoff show Aftersun for the US version.
Higgins has also grown her profile by appearing on Cooking with the Stars, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, Dancing On Ice and The Traitors USA – and according to The Sun, she has now landed her first major presenting role as host of the iconic show made famous by the late Cilla Black.
“Discussions are at an advanced stage, with the show’s producers convinced Maura’s the perfect choice for the job,” a source said.
“Not only did she shoot to fame on a TV dating contest, she is now an internationally famous face which is what a global service like Disney need for one of their shows.
“Maura also has an unquestionable glamour combined with cheeky charm which has echoes of Blind Date’s most famous host.”
Filming is expected to take place later this year for release on Disney+ in 2027.
