Netflix has confirmed that production has today begun on a third The Inbetweeners movie with the key four cast members all on board.
The iconic comedy – first aired on E4 – followed schoolmates Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas), Jay (James Buckley) and Neil (Blake Harrison) on their embarrassingly-comic coming-of-age journey.
The show ran for three series from 2008 to 2010 and was followed by a successful movie in 2011 and 2014.
Creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris are returning to write and direct the new film, while Bird, Thomas, Buckley and Harrison have been confirmed for the cast. The involvement of other characters, including the foursome’s parents and spouses – and possible children – as well as their ex-head teacher Mr Gilbert (Greg Davies), is currently unknown.
In a joint statement, Beesley and Morris said: “It’s been super-fun hanging out with our friends again, and we’re going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans.”
A target release date is currently unknown, with a mid-to-late 2027 date most likely.
