Rivals season one / Disney+
Disney+ are reportedly planning for a third season of Rivals despite the second having yet to be released.
The steamy series – an adaptation of the late Jilly Cooper’s novel – is set in the ’80s and follows the inter-personal dynamics of a group of high-society characters in the fictional English county of Rutshire.
Seasons one and two are based on the events of the Rivals novel and it is expected that season three will cover the follow-up book, Polo.
A source told The Sun: “It’s not clear yet if the next series will still be called Rivals or flip to become Polo, or perhaps another title altogether.
“Either way, Disney are so confident the second series will be as well received as the debut season they already have wheels in motion on the third.
“Fans will be delighted to know that almost all the characters in Rivals also appear in Polo – and the follow-up novel is just as steamy as its predecessor, if not more so.”
The first half of season two – a six-episode batch – is due to be released on Disney+ on May 15.
