Flesh for RuPaul's Drag Race UK S8 / BBC
Age: 25
Hometown: London
Introduce yourself!
“Hello world, my name is Flesh, and I am the supermodel of Soho. I’m 25-years-old and I’ve been doing drag for about seven years.”
How would you describe your drag?
“I would say my biggest influences are nineties super models and British fashion. I am super feminine and always perfectly poised. My dad is Spanish, so I have an Español flair – I’m always late, and I’m always very glamorous just like a Pedro Almodovar film. I love the creativity of the fashion industry and that is what inspires me. I love fashion because it gives me the ability to transform – it’s the same with my drag. I am infatuated with colour, silhouette and textiles and communicating with my clothing.”
You’re friends with several Drag Race UK alumni…
“You may know a few of my sisters. My best friend is Bones, winner of last year’s season of Drag Race UK. Together we are Flesh and Bones. My close drag family also includes season three winner, Krystal Versace, and DeDeLicious from season five.
“Obviously, with my best friend winning the last season I’m feeling the pressure to live up to the high standards that we, Flesh and Bones have set in the Soho drag scene. I can’t predict how I’ll fare with the competition, but I thrive under pressure…”
Why do you deserve to win the crown?
“I think I’m the UK’s Next Drag Race Superstar because first of all, look at me. I want to remind people that drag is creative and powerful, but it’s more than dressing up. We can create positive change, and we can do so whilst looking amazing.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK returns next month on BBC Three and iPlayer.
