David Morrissey and Alan Cumming in Tip Toe / Channel 4
Russell T Davies has confirmed that his dark new drama Tip Toe will not return for a second series.
The show, which launched last weekend, follows the increasingly-disturbing relationship between two neighbours, played by Alan Cumming and David Morrissey.
The opening scene of the first episode reveals the fate that befalls a key character, and the rest of the series serves as a prologue to the shocking, climactic event.
“This is a one-off,” creator Davies told The Sun. “It has a very definite ending. There’s nowhere you could go after the ending. I’m very happy with it. I’ve had a good time doing it.
“I always have to start from scratch and I sometimes regret that. I’m mad, aren’t I? But equally I like doing one-offs. Soon I’ll start something brand new.
“It means I can go anywhere and do anything. There are new actors to work with, there are new stories, society keeps changing. I’m excited to move on.”
The final three episodes drop on Channel 4 streaming this Sunday.
