Chris McCausland has been officially named as Strictly Come Dancing‘s first celebrity in the lineup for this year’s series.
The 47-year-old comedian – a regular on top panel shows – will make history as the ballroom contest’s first ever blind contestant when he takes to the dancefloor next month.
Speaking about his participation, McCausland said: “If anybody out there is thinking, ‘how the hell is he going to do that?’ then rest assured that I am thinking exactly the same thing.
“I don’t dance, I haven’t danced, I can’t dance, I can’t see the dancing I will have to do. What can possibly go wrong? Okay, don’t answer that…!”
The full celebrity lineup – expected to number 15 in total – will be confirmed over the course of the next few days.
