Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly for the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special 2025 / BBC
Producers of Strictly Come Dancing are considering having three hosts for this year’s series, according to a report.
The show is undergoing a major overhaul in 2026, with new hosts arriving to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, while at least seven professional dancers are thought to have been axed.
Contenders for the presenting positions are now said to be down to a final seven – Emma Willis, Angela Scanlon, Zoe Ball, Fleur East, Rylan Clark, Alex Jones and Alison Hammond.
A show source told The Sun: “Alex is still very much the BBC’s favourite to land a hosting spot. The Beeb loves her and thinks she’d be perfect to take on Tess’s role on the floor.
“Talk recently has turned to whether they could bring in a third host to really freshen it up. Nothing is off the table when it comes to sprinkling new magic over Strictly.”
They continued: “It’s likely a decision on whether it’s two hosts or three, and who will get the roles, won’t be decided until summer.
“The BBC are making a lot of changes to the pro dancer lineup and now that is out of the way, they can get to work on who is the best fit.”
The BBC is expected to hold screen and chemistry tests for potential hosting combinations next month.
