Dan Miller for The Apprentice S20 / BBC
Age: 27
From: Richmond, London
Occupation: Student Recruitment Company Owner
What’s your business plan?
“I have a student recruitment company called Young Professionals that specifically helps students in school and university secure opportunities with companies via their apprenticeship, graduate and work experience programmes. We work with some of the world’s biggest companies such as PwC, Goldman Sachs and Linklaters looking after their early careers attraction and marketing campaigns for their early career roles.”
What makes you a unique candidate?
“I started out at 17 from my bedroom in Derby with the idea. I had no business connections, no experience but a drive and passion to change the way students heard about and had access to opportunities. I started from nothing but an idea in school which has grown to become one of the UK’s largest student networks. Having had almost 10 years’ experience in the student recruitment industry many students, schools, and employers look to us an authoritative figure in navigating this market.”
Why do you deserve Lord Sugar’s investment?
“After running my company for almost 10 years on my own, it is time for me to look for a seasoned business professional to help me scale and take my company to the next level. There is still a lot for me to learn and getting mentored and supported from Lord Sugar would be incredible. The investment would be a life-changing amount of cash injected to my company for us to scale and grow into different markets and develop new products.”
The Apprentice returns Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
