Megan Ruiter for The Apprentice S20 / BBC
Age: 26
From: Wirral
Occupation: Online Women’s Clothing Brand Owner
What’s your business plan?
“My current business is a bespoke womenswear clothing brand, Ruiter, which allows all customers to modify our designs online so that they suit their own personal style preferences. Whether that be a shorter or longer version, with or without sleeves, different neckline options or different colours and fabrics. We are not a fast fashion brand where one size fits all, our bespoke feature allows customers to make all our designs their own, appealing to a wider demographic. Our aim is to make our customers feel confident in every piece of Ruiter clothing and to create pieces that last a lifetime. With Lord Sugar’s investment, I can scale this brand and build on its successes.”
What makes you a unique candidate?
“I am such a hard worker, I currently own three successful businesses, and each business has taught me so many business and life lessons. I don’t know what a 9-5 job is because my work life is 24/7. I have such a strong desire to succeed in life as a well-established businesswoman and I am currently on a mission to achieve that dream goal for myself. I have no ‘off’ button, it’s always go, go, go.”
Why do you deserve Lord Sugar’s investment?
“I deserve Lord Sugar’s investment because I am such a hardworking person and have been from such a young age. During university most students were out partying whilst I was at home teaching myself to sew and starting my own clothing business. Whenever I reach a goal in life, I am already working on how to achieve the next goal set. I always give everything my absolute all because when my work life is thriving that is when I feel most content within my personal life too. Plus, I think myself and Lord Sugar would make a great team together.”
The Apprentice returns Thursday at 9pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
