How did you react when you found out you would be taking part in this year’s show?
“I’d applied quite a few times – but I never thought I’d get in! But I did. I was literally ‘quietly’ squealing/screaming down the phone to the Producer when I found out. I was at work and was trying to be excited and quiet at the same time – I didn’t want my colleagues or Clients to hear me… I’m loud as it is!”
As a group, what are this year’s bakers like?
“I’d describe this year’s bakers in three words… wild, hilarious and incredibly kind! We were such a fun bunch, and I honestly don’t think there was ever a dull moment. We all met for the first time at the hotel, and it was amazing how quickly we clicked. Within what felt like minutes, we were chatting, laughing and getting to know one another as if we’d known each other for years.
“For me, it was such a heart-warming experience. We were all in exactly the same boat, sharing this once-in-a-lifetime adventure together, and there was such a lovely sense of support and encouragement from the very beginning. We celebrated each other’s successes, picked each other up when things didn’t quite go to plan, and had so much fun along the way. It really was a beautiful thing to be part of.”
How was it having Nigella as part of the show?
“Nigella is truly a wonderful, beautiful soul, and to have her as a judge alongside Paul was an absolute honour. It made the whole experience even more memorable.”
Describe your baking style in three words!
“Flavours, combinations and colours.”
