Jade Scott for The Traitors UK S4 / BBC
Age: 25
From: West Midlands
Occupation: PhD
Why did you apply to take part in the show?
“I play a lot of video games which are similar to The Traitors, so I just thought ‘why would I not?’ as I do it in my spare time anyway.”
Do you have a gameplan?
“I think I’ll play everything that I do down a bit. I’m going to say that I am a master’s student, rather than a PhD because this is my whole life. I can’t go in there and make up a whole new background as that’s too much effort to keep up, so I will just play down what I do. I have a resting mean face sometimes, which can kind of look like I’m just staring people out, so I need to watch myself as I can be quite blunt and direct as well. My game plan is basically to go in there and try and be part of the crowd but also be a bit of a shark amongst the little sheep.”
Are you good at spotting a liar?
“I think I’m good at spotting a liar. If I’m not 100% sure of something, I won’t hesitate to quiz someone on that either.”
Are you competitive when you’re playing games with friends and family?
“I’m competitive because I want to win and I want to do well, but I’m also very much a team player. If I’m playing as part of a team, I want us to do the best that we can and that’s when the bluntness really comes out. I’m really going to have to dial that back because ultimately these are random people that I’ve never met before, and they’re going to be like, ‘what is her problem?’. I always have a strategy, like in Monopoly, I will always know which colours to buy on the board, and I will just make a beeline for those colours.”
How would you spend the prize money?
“I would really like to buy a house. I’m the ripe age of 25 and PhD life doesn’t pay very well. I’d like to buy a house somewhere I can call home, as I have moved around a lot for studying and so I’d like somewhere to finally call my own.”
The Traitors continues Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 8pm on BBC One.
