Vanessa Feltz / 5
Vanessa Feltz has admitted that she had no idea that her 5 chatshow was in danger of being axed by the broadcaster.
Last week it emerged that the broadcasting veteran’s weekday afternoon programme will come to an end next month after around 15 months on the air amid lacklustre ratings.
Speaking candidly on her LBC show, Feltz told listeners: “It was a bit of a shock. It was meant to be a delightful year’s contract, the show was going really well… I was shocked to the core and very upset and I still am. It was only Wednesday at 3 o’clock that I found out.”
She went on to claim that her slot will be filled with classic movies from the library of 5 owner Paramount, explaining: “They want to show Paramount movies every afternoon at two. It doesn’t cost them any money because they already own them. I don’t think I really came into the equation at all.”
Confirming the axe of Feltz’s talkshow last week, a 5 spokesperson insisted: “Vanessa remains a valued member of the Channel 5 family and we are discussing future projects together.”
The final episode of Vanessa is due to air on 5 on July 17.
