Charley Webb has confirmed recent reports that she has left Emmerdale for good.
The 33-year-old, who has played the part of Debbie Dingle since 2002, left the soap in 2019 to go on maternity leave, returning for a short storyline in December 2020 before departing again.
A recent report claimed that Webb’s most recent departure would be a permanent one, despite Debbie’s insistence on screen that she would return to the village in the future.
Asked about the story, Webb told a fan on Instagram: “This is always my most asked question but I’ve never answered it before because I’ve never wanted to make a big deal of it.
“I left to have Ace 2 years ago. I went back at the end of last year for 10 weeks to complete a storyline.
“So, I guess officially it’s been a year. I never felt the need to announce it which is why we didn’t.”
The character of Debbie is now thought to be still living in Scotland with her young son Jack.
