Gemma Bissix will reportedly leave her role as the villainous Clare Devine for the second time as part of Hollyoaks‘ upcoming 30th anniversary episodes.
The ‘super bitch’ was supposedly killed off in 2013 but made a shock return to the village earlier this year, immediately resuming her malicious machinations.
According to Metro, she is now set for a second departure as her long-running feud with Tom Cunningham (Ellis Hollins) builds to a climax – although whether the character is being killed off remains under wraps.
“Gemma has absolutely loved being back but a character like Clare can never stick around for too long, given everything she’s done,” a source told the publication.
“There’s a lot more to come before the final scenes air but it promises to be an exhilarating ending.
“Fans may be disappointed to hear that she is going so soon but it also is likely to come as little of a surprise given the nature of the character and the storyline.
“Her comeback has proven to be a real success and a pivotal part of the build-up to the 30th, and a real representation of what Hollyoaks does best when it comes to iconic characters. She’ll be a huge miss!”
Hollyoaks celebrates its 30th birthday towards the end of October with a deadly stunt, the return of former characters, a Hollyoaks Later special and a Brookside crossover.
