Coronation Street star Vicky Myers has revealed that she believes her character Lisa Swain has a surprising amount of affection for her colleague Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
The two characters often butt heads in their roles as members of the police force and have each reprimanded the other, and landed each other in hot water at work, in the past.
A suspicious Kit is currently secretly investigating Becky (Amy Cudden) – Lisa’s wife who has risen from the dead – over suspicions of police corruption, a move that could put him on path to more conflict with Lisa, but Myers believes that beneath their relationship lies genuine respect.
“I think there’s a lot that’s unsaid and unspoken between the two of them,” she said. “Despite the way that they talk to each other, and even though Lisa is his superior, I think Lisa sees a lot of herself in him and she knows he’s a more than competent detective, she believes in him.
“I think she actually likes his cheekiness, his directness, his slight tinge of arrogance. He’s actually somebody that she can work with even though they often disagree. It’s also somebody that lives in her community and I think she absolutely cares for him.
“It’s great to see them working together, but I also love it when they’re at each other’s throats like siblings, their little one-liners and the way they can wind each other up. But also she absolutely has his back and she’s loyal to him and I think he feels the same.”
