Tom Harwood will relocate to Washington after being appointed to the new position of US Political Editor at GB News.
The 30-year-old journalist – currently Deputy Political Editor – has been with the broadcaster since its launch in 2021 and is host of the Good Afternoon Britain show on weekdays.
From next week Harwood will be based from the channel’s US bureau in the nation’s capital, anchoring The Late Show Live from Monday to Thursday nights.
As part of the changes, Bev Turner will relocate back to the UK – in a yet-to-be-announced new role – while Ben Leo will remain Stateside, presenting The Late Show Live from Fridays to Sundays.
The news comes as the show, which airs daily from midnight to 3am UK (7pm to 10pm ET), marks its one-year anniversary.
“It is a huge honour to be promoted to US Political Editor at such a pivotal time for this country, the United States, and the world,” said Harwood. “Now, more than ever, on matters of peace, prosperity, and technological progress, an understanding of how Washington is thinking is to get a head start on British politics and policy down the line too.
“I’m delighted to be moving to DC in time for the midterm elections, as so much that matters for the whole world could be decided across an ocean in a matter of weeks. From beefing up our weekday daytime coverage from Washington, to hosting The Late Show Live, I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
