Jack Carroll as Bobby Crawford in Coronation Street / ITV
Jack Carroll has left his role as Bobby Crawford on Coronation Street after 18 months, it has emerged.
The character was introduced over Christmas 2023 as the long-lost nephew of Carla (Alison King) and the son of convict Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis).
Bobby formed friendships with the Street’s other young residents but failed to connect with viewers, leading to producers deciding to write him out off-screen.
The news was conveyed casually during Monday night’s episode of the soap – around six weeks after Bobby was last seen – during a conversation between Lauren (Cait Fitton) and Betsy (Sydney Martin).
A source told The Mirror: “Bobby has had a dramatic couple of years on the cobbles, but the time has come to bid farewell.
“Actor Jack enjoyed his time on the soap, but it’s time to move on. Viewers won’t see the character exit the street as he’s already left, with Jack filming his final scenes some time ago.
“The door has been left open for Jack should he wish to come back to the show in the future. With his Aunty Carla there, Bobby will always have a place in Weatherfield.”
Bobby is now said to have joined Carla’s de-facto nephew Simon (Alex Bain) on his travels in Europe.
