Charlie Suff admits EastEnders exit is “gutting”

EastEnders actor Charlie Suff has admitted that he is upset to be leaving his role as Johnny Carter on the soap.

The 30-year-old – the third actor to play the character – will make his exit after two years in early 2027 as part of the storyline that sees Johnny’s mum Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) depart Walford.

Johnny’s siblings Lee (Danny Hatchard) and Nancy (Maddy Hill) will also be back for the plot as the Carter family bows out 13 years on from their arrival.

“It’s gutting,” Suff told the Radio Times of his impending exit. “I absolutely love being a part of the show. I love everyone in it. I love the crew. I love the team. It’s been an amazing thing to be part of.

“But I’ve had an amazing few years, and what an honour to go out with the Carters.”

Of the storylines over the next few months, he added: “There’s a lot in store for the guys. It’s very dramatic. It’s all part of the big Autumn drama, and yeah, there’s lots in store for the guys.”

Suff and Bright are just the latest actors to have left, or be about to leave the soap – joining the likes of Michelle Ryan (Zoe Slater), Aaron Thiara (Ravi Gulati) and Pierre Counihan-Moullier (Oscar Branning).
