Shebz Miah as Kammy Hadiq in Emmerdale / ITV
Emmerdale star Shebz Miah has promised some ‘unpredictable’ scenes ahead for his character Kammy and friend Vinny (Bradley Johnson).
In surprise scenes earlier this month, Vinny – newly-engaged to Gabby (Rosie Bentham) – attempted to kiss Kammy in the woods after a day of high jinks and laughter.
Kammy immediately pulled back but attempted to talk about what happened with Vinny, who retreated into his shell and pretended it was a joke.
“Kammy realises that there’s a bigger issue at hand for Vinny, because he’s been going to such extreme lengths to impress for his anniversary with Gabby, but on the other hand, he’s misread the signals and has tried to kiss Kammy,” said Miah, who first appeared in the Dales in March.
“So Kammy does support Vinny on this journey that they go on – and it does get quite exciting. Kammy’s so relaxed with it. He’s so comfortable with himself that it doesn’t affect him. The only thing that does affect him is: ‘You are getting married to Gabs. You need to understand the situation’.
“So Kammy isn’t bothered about the kiss, he more feels for Vinny. Because now it’s opened up this different perspective on the relationship that Vinny has with people.”
Miah went on to reveal that Vinny will now go on a “journey” and Kammy will be there to “support him” as he figures things out.
“Kammy’s so relaxed,” he continued. “Kammy’s so confident in his sexuality. It’s more that he wants to offer a helping hand, because it’s a very tricky situation now that Vinny’s in.
“We’ve got Gabs on one hand, then all the other stuff in Vinny’s life and how does it affect that? So it’s more about Kammy trying to support him on whatever that is.”
Emmerdale continues weekdays from 7am on ITVX and at 7.30pm on ITV1.
