Robbie on Hollyoaks on June 15, 2025 / Lime Pictures
Charlie Wernham has admitted that it is “a massive shame” to see his Hollyoaks character Robbie Roscoe killed off.
The character first appeared in the village from 2013 to 2016 but returned last year alongside his brother Freddie (Charlie Clapham), before apparently leaving in June this year following the breakdown of his relationship with Vicky (Anya Lawrence).
In a surprise twist, however, viewers subsequently saw Robbie imprisoned in the shed of serial killer Jez (Jeremy Sheffield) – and in episodes that aired this week, Jez decided to let Robbie go so that he could reunite with Vicky.
Robbie then approached Vicky in the village but she literally walked right through him, in the process revealing that ‘Robbie’ was merely a figment of imagination for Jez, who had actually strangled him to death back in June.
“It’s always sad when you finish the job,” Wernham told The Sun. “It’s a massive shame to say goodbye to the character and not going to be able to play him anymore but to be fair, I didn’t think I’d ever get a chance to play him again.
“So I’m very happy that the opportunity come around to come back and bring the character back and is quite interesting ending so I’m quite satisfied.”
On the possibility of him ever returning to the soap again, he added: “I always say it is Hollyoaks, you know… a lot of [people] come [back] from the dead so who knows.
“I never said never the first time so I’ll never say never again. So we’ll see what happens, but as of now as at this moment Robbie is gone.”
Hollyoaks continues Mondays to Wednesdays from 7am on Channel 4 streaming and at 7pm on E4.
