Love Island executive producer Mike Spencer has revealed that sex between the contestants will be broadcast in the new series.
Typically when Islanders have sex the show cuts to euphemistic footage such as running water, but this series the undercover shenanigans will be shown on screen – in the bounds of what is permitted to be broadcast on British television.
Speaking to The Mirror, Spencer said: “If sex happens, we’ll show it. The Hideaway will be open 24 hours.”
He continued: “We need to keep the show fresh and exciting. After 10 years, the stats speak for themselves. The show will continue to thrive.
“We the producers need to stay ahead of the curve. The whole ‘twists and turns’ thing is about making the show fresh. We’re going to give it all we’ve got.”
Love Island launches Monday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
