Tim Curry, best known for his role as Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, has died at the age of 80.
The actor’s extensive list of film credits also includes hotel receptionist Hector in Home Alone 2: Lost in New Yok, Rooster in Annie, Pennywise in the 1990 TV miniseries version of It and dodgy professor Oldman in Scary Movie 2.
In 2012 Curry almost lost his life when he suffered a major stroke and was confined to a wheelchair thereafter, while also suffering problems with his short-term memory.
The star’s long-time manager Marcia Hurwitz told Variety that Curry had died “peacefully” at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles on Tuesday evening, although the cause of death has not yet been made public.
Curry, who was never married and had no children, had an older sister who died in 2001 and is survived by his two nieces.
