Romeo Beckham and Paul Kircher in Forty Love / StudioCanal
Romeo Beckham is to make his acting debut in a gay tennis movie called Forty Love, it has been revealed.
The project – from French powerhouse StudioCanal – is directed by fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti and features a guest appearance from French film icon Catherine Deneuve.
According to Variety, the plot centres around young tennis star Sacha Gallo (Paul Kircher) in the build-up to a major tournament in Paris. His preparations are derailed, however, by the arrival of “a charismatic new rival” (Beckham), who “challenges everything Sacha thought he understood about competition, ambition and himself”.
The synopsis reads: “For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature – love. A force as exhilarating as it is destabilising – and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
Also on the cast are French actors Guillaume Canet, Benjamin Voisin and Vincent Lacoste.
Forty Love has a theatrical release date set for November 25 in France, with wider international distribution yet to be announced.
