Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, has provided a positive update on the health of her father-in-law Prince Philip.
The Duke of Edinburgh has now been in hospital for more than a fortnight undergoing treatment for an infection and a pre-existing heart condition, and on Monday he was moved to the specialist heart hospital St Bartholomew’s in London.
Concerns over Philip are naturally high given his age – at 99, he is the longest-lived male member of the Royal family in history – but speaking on a visit to a coronavirus vaccine centre today, Camilla shared positive news.
“We heard today that he’s slightly improving. So, that’s very good news,” she told a volunteer who asked about Philip. “We keep our fingers crossed.”
In a statement earlier this week, Buckingham Palace said that Philip was “responding to treatment” and confirmed that he would remain in hospital until at least the end of this week.
