The BBC has announced that it has reached an eleventh-hour agreement to broadcast Neil Young’s Glastonbury set tonight live.
The 79-year-old, who is headlining on Pyramid tonight, had previously insisted that his show not be broadcast live in a break from tradition.
Young is notoriously specific with his live music and previously put restrictions on his Glasto performance in 2009 so that the ‘live event could retain its mystery’.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed today: “Earlier this week, we said that at the artist’s request, Neil Young’s set would not be shown live on the BBC on Saturday night.
“Today, we are delighted to confirm that it will be.”
Young’s set will play out on BBC Two from 10.10pm rather than on BBC One, where the broadcaster is sticking with its plan to broadcast Charli XCX’s set live at the same time instead.
