Denise Van Outen and Johnny Vaughan on The Big Breakfast / Channel 4
Denise Van Outen has revealed that her mystery new project with Johnny Vaughan will be a show in the vein of The Big Breakfast.
The duo were arguably the most popular presenting pair on the now-defunct Channel 4 morning show in the late nineties but went years without talking to each other after a rumoured dispute over different levels of pay.
Van Outen and Vaughan reconnected during the pandemic, however, and after guest hosting Steph’s Packed Lunch together they put plans in motion to collaborate on a new project.
Explaining further, she told The Sun: “In my new touring show (An Evening With Denise), of all the things I’ve done, The Big Breakfast section gets the biggest reaction. I think people are still craving that chaos and the fun – we’ve lost it.”
She added: “I’m working on something with Johnny, it’s going to have that feel to it. It’s all come from the show and speaking to people. I was like, ‘Oh, people are missing this, they want this’.”
Further details of the show – including whether a traditional broadcaster is attached, or if it will go out online – are currently unknown.
