Carlos Borges for Love Island 2026 / ITV
It was a Casa Amor bloodbath on last night’s Love Island as five of the newbies were dumped amid a shock recoupling that saw six new couples formed.
Shortly after leaving the villa, Carlos Borges spoke to the press about his time on the show…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“It feels tough because you want to go in there, find a connection and have an amazing experience. I did, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard because I thought I had a good connection with Priya, and that we were getting on really well. And from the chats I was having with the boys and the girls, they were reassuring me all the time that I was her number one and she felt the most comfortable with me. So I was very confident that I was going to get picked. It’s definitely a bitter pill to swallow because I didn’t expect it. It’s still quite a shock, to be honest.”
How would you describe the experience?
“It was an amazing experience and I’m so grateful to have done it. For me, it is the best show in the world. So to have done it is amazing. It was a dream for me.”
We saw you getting to know Priya – did you think that could go somewhere?
“For me, the chapter with Priya is closed. She had her chance and I don’t really want to be a second option. I don’t feel like I deserve that. I opened up to her which is quite hard for me to do. Also the person she chose, she isn’t even their number one. We’ll see what happens with that, but she’s not made the right decision if I’m honest. Also, I was chatting to Angelista as well. I regret not putting in more effort with her and focusing on Priya instead.”
Did you form good friendships?
“Yes, the Casa boys are friends for life. Tommy is my guy. I want him to win and bring it home for the boys. I’m rooting for him because he and Yasmin have got something amazing and I’m so happy for him. Will is like a brother to me, we grew close very quickly. I looked up to Jords too. He’s so funny, he’d have me in bits every day. In terms of him and Priya, I’m not going to be rooting for them. She picked someone who’s not even her priority. In terms of me and Jordon, we’re all good though.”
Love Island continues nightly at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
