Martha Rothwell for Love Island 2026 / ITV
Love Island suffered its most devastating bloodbath yet last night as four bombshells were dumped and OG Ellie Chadwick chose to walk out.
Shortly after leaving the villa, Martha Rothwell spoke to the press about her time on the show…
How does it feel to be leaving Love Island?
“It feels surreal to be leaving Love Island. I can’t believe I was in there. I’ve had the best time. I feel like I experienced the journey properly and I think it was the right time for me to leave. There are a lot of strong connections and couples in there that deserve to stay. Obviously Jordon was dumped and we were in a friendship couple anyway, so there wasn’t really any point in me staying. I think I’ve made best friends for life and had the best experience ever , I have no regrets. It’s just the weirdest rollercoaster experience ever, but I’ve loved every second of it. I would do it again, hands down.”
You were a Casa Amor Bombshell. What was it like being a Casa girl?
“Casa Amor this year was insane. It was interesting seeing how all the boys were in Casa and then seeing a bit of a switch-up when we were back in the Villa. I actually wouldn’t change it for anything, I loved it. It was a bit like holiday vibes at Casa Amor. I kind of just went with it, I loved getting to know Aidan and we’re still really good friends.I have no regrets on my experience.”
You had a connection with Aidan in Casa Amor and he brought you back to the main Villa. What was that moment like?
“I was terrified to come back into the Villa with all the OG girls. Obviously Aidan and his brother are main characters in the Villa, they’re friends with everyone, so I was a bit nervous. But if I was walking in with anyone, I think I would have wanted it to be Aidan. He’s so warm, friendly and nice. He made me feel comfortable and not shy. But like I said, there was a bit of a switch-up when we were back there. I think that’s when the mood changed a bit. Whatever we had maybe fizzled, or his priorities changed, I guess. That did take me by surprise, but I feel like I addressed it with him and it’s all sorted now.”
During the recoupling, Jordon picked you over Mara. Were you surprised?
“I was so shocked when Jordon picked me in the recoupling. We hadn’t even had that many chats. There was flirty energy, I guess, between us from across the Villa. Onthe day of the recoupling, he was speaking to Mara all day. I think we all thought his speech was for Mara, so I wasn’t really expecting it, but I was happy at the same time, obviously.”
You and Jordon later decided you were better as friends. Why do you think that was?
“Jordon’s so hot. Like I said, I’d walk by him and think, ‘Oh, fine man. Fine shit.’ ‘Six foot six fine shit’, as Jasmine always says. But I feel like maybe it was both of us. We’re both quite chilled and I don’t know if our personalities really matched that well. I think it just kind of fizzled out a bit. After we had our initial chats and got to know each other, we were kind of like, ‘What now?’ There wasn’t really much left. But he’s a lovely boy.”
Which couples do you think will go the distance?
“I think Lorenzo and Julia will really go the distance. They’re such a match made in heaven and they bring out the best in each other. I love them both. When I was in the Villa, I was just third-wheeling them the whole time. I’d be sitting with Lorenzo whenever Julia was busy. I miss them already. Mum and Dad. I know they’ve left now, but Ellie and Fin have this connection and it’s so nice to see because it just feels like true love. Watching them is so cute. I know they’re going to last on the outside. I can’t wait for them to meet each other’s families and stay with each other in Scotland and Wales. I’m Ellie and Fin’s number one fan.”
Love Island continues Sundays to Fridays at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX, with Unseen Bits airing Saturdays at 10pm.
