The Super Mario Galaxy Movie / Nintendo / Universal Studios
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie opened at the top of the UK and Ireland Box Office over the weekend, according to Comscore figures.
The sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie – with voices from Chris Pratt, Charlie Day and Jack Black – pulled in an impressive £15m in receipts from Friday to Sunday.
Last week’s number one, the acclaimed sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary, added a further £3.43m for second spot and a total of £21.87m to date.
The Drama, a romantic dark comedy with Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, opened in third place with £2.14m, while The Magic Faraway Tree dropped two places to four with a further £2.12m.
