Alan Carr for Interior Design Masters S07E01 / BBC
Teo Villacci has become the first designer to be eliminated from this year’s edition of Interior Design Masters.
Host Alan Carr introduced ten new amateur designers as a new competition got underway – and in the first task, judge Michelle Ogundehin challenged them to show off their signature styles by renovating beach huts in Mudeford, Kent on a budget of £1,100.
The resulting designs varied wildly, from a statement arch to an Amalfi coast tribute, with features including smart space-saving interlocking furniture and discreet changing areas within the hut.
Ben Smith, a 28-year-old Royals obsessive from the West Midlands, was named Standout Space by Michelle, who praised his hut for having a ‘sense of the architectural, colour, softness and warmth’.

On the sofa this week were Teo, Kate Hewitt and Emmely Elgersma – the former of whom was criticised for not having enough final finesse and for attaching a surfboard to the ceiling.
Michelle then eliminated Teo, a 29-year-old graphics designer from Leeds, telling him: “We want the ideas, we want the ambition, so I think on that basis… Teo, you will be the person leaving us this week.”
Speaking afterwards, he said: “[I’m] gutted to be going home, but it’s been great to get out of the house, get off my computer, get out of my comfort zone and come and do something. I will come out with my head held high.”
Interior Design Masters continues Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
