Gemma Collins for I'm A Celebrity... South Africa S2 / ITV
Gemma Collins has declared that she is “really proud” of herself after righting old wrongs on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa.
The 45-year-old reality star, nicknamed “The GC”, first appeared on the main Australia-set show in 2014 but memorably quit after just three days, having mistakenly believed that she had contracted malaria.
In the All Stars series, Collins took part in three trials – including an eating challenge, a water-based challenge and the ‘Creeper Train’ challenge – and stayed the duration in all three, ultimately lasting 10 days in camp until she was voted out by fellow leaver David Haye.
Talking about David’s decision to take her out with him, she said: “David and I had beef at first, but he actually saved me in the end.
“I felt like I’d done what I wanted to do and I could see the others wanted it that little bit more. I was like, ‘If no-one wants to go, then I’ll go.’
“I’ve won in my eyes. I got the opportunity again, I did the trials and I didn’t say no to anything. I got from the experience what I needed to be my own winner. “
Looking back on how it compared to her first jungle stint, Collins continued: “I’m proud of myself for sure. I got redemption for myself and I didn’t say no to anything. I got on and did it.
“It definitely wasn’t easy at times, but I’m really proud of myself for sure. 100% it’s given me a confidence boost.”
I’m A Celebrity… South Africa continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
