Filming on the new series of Love Island All Stars has been put on an indefinite hold due to wildfires in the vicinity of the show’s villa.
The new series had been due to begin on ITV2 on Monday evening but the launch was abandoned over the weekend as host Maya Jama, the entire cast and the production team were evacuated for their safety.
Multiple wildfires have been raging around Cape Town in South Africa, including near to the villa in Franschhoek.
An ITV spokesperson confirmed: “Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed.
“Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed.”
Monday’s launch episode has been replaced in the schedules by a repeat of the retrospective show Love Island: Decade of Love.
