Owen Cooper for Soccer Aid 2026 / UNICEF
Teen actor Owen Cooper has signed up to appear in this year’s edition of Soccer Aid for UNICEF.
The 16-year-old has shot to global stardom over the last year due to his role in hard-hitting acclaimed drama Adolescence, for which he has won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, an Actor Award and a National Television Award.
Cooper will represent England – managed by Robbie Williams – at the annual event, turning out alongside the likes of Joe Hart, Joe Marler, GK Barry, Angry Ginge, Tom Hiddlestone, Wayne Rooney, Jill Scott and Sam Thompson.
“I’m incredibly proud to be playing at Soccer Aid for UNICEF in its twentieth anniversary year,” said Cooper. “I wasn’t even born when the first Soccer Aid took place but I’m a big fan!
“Becoming the youngest player to take part is a real honour and I’m excited to step out at the London Stadium on Sunday 31st May. This event raises vital funds to help children grow up safe, healthy and able to play – and I’m grateful to be part of such an important cause.”
Usain Bolt will manage the World XI, featuring players including Big Zuu, Jordi Alba, Edwin van der Sar, Richard Gadd, Gladiators star Nitro and Maisie Adam.
The event takes place on Sunday, May 31 at the London Stadium and will also be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX.
