Piers Morgan for Piers Morgan Uncensored
Piers Morgan’s Uncensored brand is to undergo a major expansion after securing a major $27m (£20.5m) investment deal.
Late last year Morgan began to launch spinoffs of his popular YouTube talkshow Piers Morgan Uncensored, starting with History Uncensored – recently joined by The Royals Uncensored and World Cup Uncensored.
The latest round of funding, which includes investment from Rupert Murdoch’s daughter Liz Murdoch, will “fuel the launch and scaling of Uncensored‘s expanding slate of talent-driven audio and video channels, as well as live events, subscription products, and other industry-leading partnerships”.
Speaking about the deal, Morgan said in a statement: “Our ambition for Uncensored has always been to build a truly global media platform for smart, compelling, high-engagement content that resonates with audiences worldwide.
“The media industry has seen seismic change in recent years, and – backed by this group of world-class investors – we are now in a unique position to help redefine that landscape and establish Uncensored as one of the world’s most influential media companies.”
The news comes after a recent agreement with Paramount that sees Piers Morgan Uncensored, World Cup Uncensored and The Royals Uncensored air on linear channel 5 in the UK.
