Lewis Moody vs MND / TNT Sports
Former England rugby captain Lewis Moody is to open up about his diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in a new documentary for TNT Sports.
The 48-year-old, who retired due to injury in 2012, revealed last October that he had been diagnosed with MND – a terminal neurological condition which sees the muscles of the body fail progressively over time.
The cause of MND is unknown and while there is currently no cure, experts have predicted that it could some day be cured given sufficient research funding.
The one-off doc Lewis Moody vs MND will see Moody speak to doctors, scientists, researchers and experts to find out more about the latest drug trials and how they could help future sufferers.
The programme will also feature candid interviews with Moody, his wife Annie, his close friends and former teammates, as well as footage from his recent 500-mile charity bike ride to raise vital research funds.
“Lewis Moody’s story is one of extraordinary courage, resilience and emotion which will resonate with many suffering with MND every day,” said Scott Young, evp of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe.
“Lewis and his family have opened their lives to help others understand the reality of MND, and we are proud to help share their journey with viewers across the UK and Ireland.
“It is a true privilege that Lewis has allowed TNT Sports inside his life, and we believe we have delivered a narrative with honesty, depth and purpose. We pride ourselves as expert storytellers, elevating powerful narratives that inspire and connect audiences through stories which deserve to be told.”
Lewis Moody vs MND is slated to air on TNT Sports later this year.
