Aaron Mountford-Myles for The Great British Bake Off 2025 / Channel 4
Age: 38
From: London
Occupation: Senior Systems Architect
How did you react to the news that you would be on the show?
“I’d actually begun to feel I wouldn’t get on the show. My reaction was quite calm mainly because I’d been to that stage before and didn’t want to get too excited – a lot can change between that call and filming. I was at home working when I got the call. [My boyfriend] Anthony was eavesdropping and crying before I even got a chance to tell him.”
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a baker?
“I feel I have a good knowledge of baking and good flavours. My weakness is second guessing, especially when I don’t have the time to do it over.”
Was it surreal meeting Noel and Alison for the first time?
“As soon as they walk into the tent its tomfoolery, stunts and shenanigans. I swear I could watch those two all day.”
How did you feel about your first judging from Paul and Prue?
“Naturally! No-one wanted to leave first. And you stood waiting for them to get to you whilst also staring at what you’ve made, self critiquing all your mistakes was torture.”
The Great British Bake Off begins Tuesday night at 8pm on Channel 4.
