KPop Demon Hunters / Netflix
The sequel to KPop Demon Hunters may not be released until 2029, according to a report.
The Netflix animated musical movie – about a KPop girl group who hunt demons in their spare time – has been nothing short of a cultural phenomenon since its release on the platform in June.
The film is Netflix’s most-watched original title in history, having racked up more than 325 million views, and several of its songs have dominated music charts around the world.
A follow-up was swiftly ordered by the streamer, but according to a new report on Bloomberg, it may take until 2029 before it is ready for release.
The hefty wait is supposedly due to the complexity of producing an animated film, with four years being the typical production length, although it could theoretically be completed sooner.
The first film was originally announced to have begun production in June 2021.
