Caroline Harker is reportedly due to leave her role as the villainous Dr Caitlin Todd on Emmerdale at the conclusion of her current storyline.
The character – former boss of medical student Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant) at hospital – made occasional appearances throughout 2025 but earlier this year became a regular cast member for “an extended run”.
In a hard-hitting plot, Todd relentlessly bullied Jacob at work before turning her attentions to Charity (Emma Atkins), blackmailing her for increasingly large amounts of money under the threat of revealing her baby secret.
Next week the story will take a sickening new turn as Todd sexually abuses Charity and now it has been reported that the actions will set in motion her eventual exit.
“Caroline has loved her time at Emmerdale but it’s time to move on,” a source told The Sun.
“She always knew playing such an evil character came with a shelf life but she’s leaving with many fond memories.”
The insider added: “Caroline only came in on a short-term contract, and knew she would never stay long-term.
“That’s the sad situation at the moment, with all the cuts people are rarely getting long contracts anymore. There just isn’t the money.”
A timeline for Harker’s departure is currently unknown.
