Strictly Come Dancing has been thrown into yet another scandal following claims that two of its stars are cocaine users.
The show has endured a tumultuous two years, with dancer Giovanni Pernice leaving ahead of an investigation which upheld some complaints of bullying against him, while fellow pro Graziano Di Prima also left amid reports about his conduct.
Earlier this year Wynne Evans – contestant from 2024 – lost all of his BBC work after footage emerged of him joking about a “spitroast” during a press call.
According to The Sun, the allegations of coke use against the two unnamed stars of the show originated via Evans himself, who instructed law firm Russells to make a legal submission to the BBC in March.
The allegations include one Strictly star saying to a celebrity contestant: “Have you seen their pupils? … They’re off their face.”
One of the celebrities is also said to have remarked that it is “well known on the show that two stars took cocaine… it was talked about widely among the cast”.
The BBC, which has now launched an investigation, said: “We have clear protocols and policies in place for dealing with any serious complaint raised with us.
“We would always encourage people to speak to us if they have concerns. It would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”
The news comes just six weeks before the show – the BBC’s top-rated programme – returns for a new series.
