Gordon Ramsay for Hell's Kitchen / FOX
Gordon Ramsay is reportedly developing a revival of the original Hell’s Kitchen for ITV for next year.
The format launched on ITV in 2004 and saw Ramsay oversee a group of celebrities, including Edwina Currie, James Dreyfus and Amanda Barrie, as they manned the kitchen of a pop-up restaurant.
Ramsay left the show after one series in order to launch a hugely-popular US version, which has now been on air for 20 years and run for an impressive 24 seasons to date.
The UK version aired for a further three series after Ramsay left before being axed in 2009.
Earlier this year it emerged that ITV has been looking at bringing back the format, and now The Sun says that Ramsay is in active discussions about returning with a reboot in 2026.
“Fans of the show will be doubly thrilled by the prospect of the competition coming back and being able to dine in a Hell’s Kitchen restaurant over here,” a source said.
“Business-savvy Gordon has watched as the popularity of Hell’s Kitchen in the US has helped bring in thousands of customers to his restaurants.
“The programme is broadcast in more than 100 countries around the world so between tourists visiting Britain and developing a whole new audience for the telly contest in the UK, it’s an incredibly smart move on his part.”
Ramsay’s last original UK series ended a few years ago when his formats Next Level Chef and Gordon Ramsay’s Future Food Stars were axed.
