Second Marriage At First Sight / Channel 4
Production on the planned spinoff of Married At First Sight has reportedly been halted following the recent scandals surrounding the show.
Called Second Marriage At First Sight, the programme would have paired up memorable former participants from the UK and Australian editions of MAFS for a second chance at finding lasting love.
Earlier this year the UK show was thrown into chaos after multiple former participants came forwards to allege sexual abuse by their partners, at the same time casting questions over the production process and the safeguarding measures involved.
Channel 4 has pulled the entire back catalogue of MAFS UK from its streaming service, while the already-filmed 2026 series remains in limbo – and now The Sun says that SMAFS is also on hold.
A source said: “MAFS is a very lucrative franchise for C4 so you can understand why they were hoping to continue pre-production whilst the review [into the show] was ongoing to not lose any time following its conclusion.
“But the clock ran out and now Second MAFS has been paused. Casting for potential bride and grooms for the all-star cast has been closed and the crew has been stood down for the planned July filming.”
A C4 spokesperson said: “As we have previously stated, we will decide how to proceed once we have seen findings of the external review into contributor welfare on MAFS UK.”
